eliminate y's
multiply first equation by 3 and 2nd by 2 and addd them

18x+6y=-48
-2x-6y=-32 +
16x+0y=-80

16x=-80
divide both sides by 16
x=-5
sub back

-x-3y=-16
-(-5)-3y=-16
5-3y=-16
-3y=-21
y=7
