The metric pattern which has three beats per measure is called the waltz time. The waltz has the pattern STRONG-weak-weak. A waltz is characterized as a dance music in triple meter and is often written in 3/4 time. In relation to this, the theory of music and music states that the beat which is consisted of pulse in a repeating series of identical yet distinct periodic short-duration stimuli perceived as points in time occurring at the mensural level. Typically what a listener taps their foot to or dance along with a piece of music is called the pulse of the music. The colloquial term for this is beat or technically the tactus.
