This statement is incorrect. It does not mean that even if you have with you a carefully researched, well argued, and stylistically powerful speech, those are already enough. Having a speech with those qualifications is as important as having that connection with the audience. There are 8 key elements to value for a speech to be be considered as highly effective. The speech should consider: a. the words themselves,b. brevity, c. slow speech rate, d. relaxed disposition, e. expressive hand and body gestures, f. warm tone voice, g. kind facial expression, and h. gentle eye contact. As we can notice, when these are properly observed, these will result to a clear connection with the audience. It should also be put in the mind of the person who will deliver the speech that one of the purpose of delivering a speech is to create an impact on the audience. And one way to do this is to connect with the audience.
