During the last big press conference, why does rick lieberman, the head volcanologist at yellowstone, tell the public that there is no evidence that a supereruption could be imminent?

In the movie "Supervolcano" Rick Lieberman is forced by FEMA and the Secretary of Homeland Security, Joe Foster to deny that there's evidence of a pending supereruption in order to reduce public panic. He does so, even though the models he has indicates that such an eruption is imminent.
