You need a common denominator to calculate the amount of flour left, the easiest is 40 since 5*8 is 40 and 8*5 is 40. So you multiply the fractions to make them common by 40, you have 35/40 flour left and need 16/40 per batch. 16 goes into 35 2 times and you would have 3/40 of flour left.
