Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) court case restricted the rights of African Americans. That court case ruled that "separate but equal" facilities were constitutional. That meant there were separate public facilities for whites and African Americans. The "white" facilities were very nice and clean, while the "colored" facilities were horrible. They were the absolute bare minimum. (this applied to schools, bathrooms, water fountains etc.)

Plessy v. Ferguson court case restricted the rights of African Americans. That court case ruled that "separate but equal" facilities were constitutional. this basically means whites had a separate bus or fountain, and blacks had a separate bathroom and public places. The places for whites were much better and cleaner and sanitary than the ones of the colored people. They were the absolute bare minimum, and many people got sick from the uncleanliness of the facilities.
