In the context of Piaget's theory of cognitive development, Jane is using the ASSIMILATION PROCESS in developing her schema. 
Piaget's theory of cognitive development focuses on brain development. The theory divides the stage of development into four based on age range. The theory holds that there are two process at work in cognitive development, these are assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation occur when one modify new information to fit into his schema, while accommodation occur when we restructure what we already know so that new information can fit in better.
