A garbage collector or garbage man. A sanitation worker is a nicer way for referring to someone who collects trash. One can also call him a trash man, as that is the way that most children refer to the sanitation workers who collect the trash. As a whole, they are blue collared workers who begin their day long before most people are out of bed. No degree is required for the position so they are not considered professionals.
