There are many new wave movements happening in the film industry, French New Wave, Japanese New Wave, and Australian New Wave to name a few. New Wave films are all linked by certain characteristics, including: a rejection of literary period pieces written by novelists, a focus on current social issues in their true life locations/settings, and an experimentation with the form a film is shot in.
