A car can travel 288 miles on a full tank of gas. The gas tank holds 16 gallons. How many miles per gallon does the car get ?

What you do is you  take the mileage and you divide it by the amount of fuel which can be carried which means you would be able to travel 18 miles per gallon

The car gets 18 gallons per mile.

288 / 16 = 18
