"I could be sleeping right now", I thought as I felt aches shoot down my arms and legs, struggling for breath with every stroke. I started to doubt myself, so I imagined swimming to a person in need.
Last May, I decided to swim a mile without stopping. I knew I would need to be able to do it to join the Coast Guard, so I spent every morning practicing with my father. I had wanted to give up so many times, including the day I succeeded.
Thinking of saving a drowning person pushed me forward. Before I knew it, I could hear my dad clapping. I had done it!

When the thought of giving up crossed my mind, then I started doubting myself that I couldn't do it but I imagined myself swimming to rescue a drowning person, then I heard Dad clapping, it was then I knew I had done it.
I practiced with my Dad every morning for so many days enduring so much muscle pains because I knew I needed to swim a mile without stopping to be able to join the coast guard. I have finally achieved my goal after practicing every morning when I should be sleeping. The sacrifice is really worth the achievement.
