What were the objectives of dutch colonists in south africa? what kind of colony did they establish? compare these objectives to the portuguese objectives in colonizing angola?

Respuesta :

The Dutch East India Company did not mean to colonize South Africa. They wanted a stop over for their Spice trade ships to be able to stop and refresh themselves. So some farmers came to run this stop over point, which eventually turned into a colony, but not by design. The Portuguese colonized Angola solely for the purpose of the slave trade. Eventually it became an agriculture colony, but not until after the slave trade was ended.
