A 35-year-old client has been diagnosed with hypertension. the client is a stock broker, smokes daily, and has diabetes. during a follow-up appointment, the client states that regular visits to the doctor just to check blood pressure (bp) are cumbersome and time consuming. as the nurse, which aspect of client teaching would you recommend?

Respuesta :

As a nurse I would suggest the client to by a self-monitoring blood pressure (BP) cuff. Since the client sees it cumbersome and time consuming to go and test his/her blood pressure, the client need the BP monitor which will monitor the blood pressure anywhere he/she is.
The self-monitoring BP cuff detects irregular blood pressure and heartbeat. It also has a screen that clearly displays the the results and date. This device will help the client monitor the blood pressure anywhere at any time.
The patient should be advised to buy a BP apparatus if he is with someone competent enough to take his blood pressure regularly. More ideally, he can purchase a self-monitoring BP cuff since the patient finds it tedious to go to the doctor for just a blood pressure reading.
