The major causes of imperialism mainly involve
the strong nations' hunger for economic, political, and cultural control. The causes that triggered imperialism include
the industrial revolution, the seeking of new markets by newly—industrialized nations,
western nations’ competition for power, and the westerner’s duty to spread
their culture. Regarding the effects, imperialism provided more opportunities to
people in different nations and the chance to live a new improved lifestyle. It
also changed laws giving people more freedom and rights. Though this yielded to
other good results, it also caused some negative situations such as slavery.
