While driving on the highway to Simla a truck driver stops his car in the middle of the highway due to a rock breaking his window.

The theme of Five Hours to Simla is the big stuck there is in a 4-mile traffic jam which involves some characters like the person who is driving the truck that does not move until he gets the person who damaged his vehicle.

The mood of this story is based on the feelings that the author is trying to make the atmosphere the author is trying to create to stir the reader's feelings.

The setting is based on a collision of modern and traditional values of the late 20th century in India where a father and a police focus on keeping things moving but a trucker stops all traffic waiting for justice.
