8. Depending on how many characteristics of life your book talks about, this may be true or false. I think my book had about 8, including containing cells, adapting to environment, ability to reproduce, containing DNA, etc. If your book talks about 6 specific characteristics, I would say true, but be careful that its not a trick question. 
9. I'm not sure how to answer this one. Function is always dictated by structure, so I don't know how you want to answer this one in the context of your book. I would say true, but the wording is throwing me off a little.
