Orographic lifting is associated with the mountains because it serves as blocks to the current of air, pushing the air to ascend.
Orographic lift happens when an air core is driven from a low elevation to a higher elevation as it passes over growing terrain. As the air mass gains height when it quickly freezes down adiabatically, which can increase the comparative humidity to 100% and produce clouds and, under the right circumstances, precipitation.
