In the Sparta community, women had a surprising amount of rights compared to everywhere else in Greece. Instead of being in ancient house arrest like in somewhere else, Spartan women could shop, and sell things. This contributed to the economy while men couldn't do that, being in the army most of their lives.

Women in Sparta were soilders, and mothers. They were expected to marry a male soldier to have kids, and support a family. They usually taught, and educated their children. Women in Sparta were VERY strong and intelligent.
