A spider is climbing on a wall. it starts at point a, moves straight up 15 inches, to the right 7 inches and then straight down 6 inches to stop at point
b. if m represents the midpoint of ab, then find the coordinate that represents m.

Let x coordinate represent movement left-right and y coordinate represent movement up down.

We start at A(0,0).
Straight up -> (0,15)
Right -> (7,15)
Straight down -> (7,9)

We have B(7,9)

To find midpoint we use formula:
[tex]( \frac{ x_{1} + x_{2} }{2} , \frac{ y_{1} + y_{2} }{2}) \\ ( \frac{ 0 +7 }{2} , \frac{ 0 + 9 }{2}) \\ ( \frac{7}{2} , \frac{9}{2} )[/tex]
