Erik Erikson proposed a theory of psychosocial development, where he suggested that psychosocial development occurs in concert with social experience throughout life. Erikson sought to understand how social interaction and relationships play a role in the development and growth of human beings. For this, the author suggested that psychosocial development occurs during life through eight different stages, ranging from birth to death. In each of these stages there is a function that assumes a positive and a negative side in life. According to the author, for a positive life experience, the positive side must always overlap with the negative.
