Blaine Rawlings was at the verge of losing the ranch that belonged to his family. Therefore if this happened, he would have been left without a home and destitute. He, however, joined Lafayette Escadrille, which was a frontier air force that most british and American men joined before their countries came into the war. The air force was then named after Marquis de Lafayette. Blaine Rawlings did not have an as more comfortable life in his Texas ranch since he had lost all his parents and the farm was to before closure, and this will have led him to problems however Lafayette became his escape.
