the volume of the cylinder is defined by V = πr²h
V = π(5²)(8) ≈ 628.32
the volume of a hemisphere is defined by V = [tex] \frac{2}{3} \pi r^{3} [/tex]
V = [tex] \frac{2}{3}( \pi )(5^{3} ) [/tex] ≈ 261.8
Now adding the two volumes together: 628.32 + 261.8 = 890.12
Note that this is just an estimate because I chose to round the volume of the cylinder and the hemisphere before adding them together..
[tex]V = \pi ( 5^{2})(8) + \pi ( \frac{2}{3} )( 5^{3})[/tex]
V = [tex] \pi (200 + 83 \frac{1}{3} )[/tex]
V = [tex]283 \frac{1}{3} \pi [/tex]
