1) Receiving
2) Understanding
3) Remembering
4) Evaluating

In this scenario, it seems as if Garrett forgot to fully remember the conversation which is stage number 5. Although, he was able to help evaluate, understand and give feedback as the conversation took place, the remembering didn't stick the following day.
