Just as countries develop differently, Native tribes developed differently.

Some believe this is a result of geographic and environmental determinism. That is, that the geography that you settle in influences how you develop as a civilization. As a result, the Wabanki Confederacy in New England with access to rich forests and coastlines would develop differently and tell different stories than the Lakota Sioux in the Dakotas with access to buffalo and wide open plains.
