For example, they ask them about the passwords of their accounts, so that they can gather their bank account information, or directly ask about the bank details. This technique is used by the hackers frequently now a days.

So in this scenario, Stan is being targeted by the attackers to get his personal information. Because they found out the interests of Stan, and phished him that way.
