The attached diagram illustrates the answer in detail. As indicated, in the diagram, the phases of the moon do not change over moonrise and moonset, because of both the earth and moon orbit the sun together. These phases are what we observe due to the angles of the refection, to earth, of the sun rays by the moon (based on its position in respect to the earth and sun).


The phase of the moon influences moonrise and moonset. This is due to the relative position, with each other, of the 3 celestial bodies (moon, earth and sun). The second table shows the times for moonrise and mooset with each phase.
