A rectangular parking lot has an area of 2/3 of a square kilometer. The width is 1/2 of a kilometer. What is the length, in kilometers, of the parking lot? Please show me some work...

area = length x width
 replace the known information into the equation:

area = 2/3
width = 1/2

so now the formula looks like:

2/3  = 1/2 x L

to solve for L we divide both sides by 1/2

L = 2/3 / 1/2 which  = 2/3 * 2/1 = 4/3 = 1 and 1/3 km
