Today, The Savannah River Plant continues to support the United States' nuclear weapons stockpile. The plant is today actively involved in the extraction, the purification, and the loading of tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen that "boosts" the performance of the plutonium primaries in nuclear weapons.
