A shuttle orbits earth at a height of about 400 km. Why do astronauts in shuffle appear to be floating ?

I believe astronauts appear to be floating because of the fact that they are orbiting in the opposite direction that the Earth's axis is spinning. Not sure how correct this is, but I hope it helps!
