Define a variable and write an equation to model each situation. Then solve. Show your work. Tickets to the county fair for four adults and five children cost $33.30. An adults ticket costs $1.50 more than a child's ticket. Find the cost of an adults ticket.

If x is the childrens ticket
[tex]4(x + 1.5) + 5x = 33.30 \\ 4x + 6 + 5x = 33.3 \\ 9x = 33.3 - 6 \\ 9x = 27.3 \\ x = \frac{27.3}{6} \\ x = 4.55[/tex]
so that means that the adults ticket is
[tex]x + 1.50 = 4.55 + 1.50 = 6.05[/tex]
