The formula of a distance between two points:
[tex]d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}[/tex]
1. (6, 8), (5, 5). Substitute:
[tex]d=\sqrt{(5-6)^2+(0-8)^2}=\sqrt{(-1)^2+(-8)^2}=\sqrt{1+64}=\sqrt{65}[/tex]
2. (-3, -2), (-5, 3). Substitute:
[tex]d=\sqrt{(-5-(-3))^2+(3-(-2))^2}=\sqrt{(-2)^2+5^2}=\sqrt{4+25}=\sqrt{29}[/tex]
