The information about distant stars can be obtained through spectroscopy. The age of star can be determined by just looking at the chemical elements which constitutes the matter of star other than hydrogen and helium. Also , the temperature, mass and surface gravity can be determined by using spectroscopy. A star mass effect the behavior of atoms in its atmosphere by giving narrow spectrum lines. The temperature and pressure of the star can be determined by looking at the thickness and fuzziness of the lines.
