Jack bought 2 umbrellas and 3 hats $18.00. Each umbrella costs the same amount. Each hat costs the same amount. the price of a hat is $4.00. What is the cost of 1 umbrella?

Lets do this:-

18.00 - 4 = 14
14 -14 = 10
10 - 4 = 6

3 hats cost $6.

18 - 6 = 6

2 umbrellas cost $6.

6 ÷ 2 = 3 
1 umbrella cost $3. 

CHECK OUR WORK:-

3 × 2 = 6
We were RIGHT!!

So, 1 umbrella costs $3.
